Children's Education Foundation - Vietnam aims to help young girls from poor or marginalized Vietnamese families, including ethnic minorities, receive a complete education, particularly by providing scholarships.
CEF prioritizes assisting girls in an effort to counteract the consequences of Vietnam's patriarchal system. For example, some single mothers are raising their children alone without any support...
In Vietnam, school attendance is theoretically compulsory, but some children can't access it. Some become victims of human trafficking for prostitution or organ trade, forced labor in factories, or are involved in cannabis farming in the UK.
CEF's goal is to offer these young people a better future and break the cycle of poverty. The scholarships cover education-related expenses, such as uniforms and stationery, as well as each girl's out-of-pocket expenses, meals, and urgent family support, including medical care. CEF also places special emphasis on teaching life skills like swimming etc, sex education, and developing communication skills. The organization works directly in partnership with schools and monitors the girls' progress.
The girls are not separated from their families, as the idea is to maintain their connection to their communities and roots.
Their families, if they are still alive, often face poverty, disability, health issues, the hardships of agricultural labor, and insufficient agricultural yields. Sometimes the association also assists families to ensure that girls do not drop out of school.
CEF Vietnam helps 200 children in 12 provinces of Vietnam, with 10 Vietnamese volunteers and 2 Western volunteers. This organization relies entirely on donations for funding.
We had the opportunity to meet Linda, an active member of the association, as well as Doan, Trinh, and Thao, three young girls aged 13, 16, and 18, respectively.
Thanks to your donations, our travel association, La Belle expé, provided 60 kg of rice, oil, Chinese noodles, etc. (expenses: 80 euros) to the families supported by this association.
