After our donation to the Nagaland orphanage, we purchased 23 English books for the young people at the public high school in the small village of Khezhakeno in Nagaland, amounting to 61 euros.
Most of the books are inspiring biographies for young people or fiction, with many illustrations (biographies of cricket players, Ed Sheeran, Gandhi, Michelle Obama, The Little Prince, creative leisure ideas using recycled materials, fiction written by Nagas, etc.). The young students start learning English at the age of 12.
It so happens that the brother of our driver (paid at our own expense, of course) during our trip, is a math teacher there. We were therefore fortunate to visit this high school and meet the principal and the teaching staff. During the visit, the principal had mentioned that inspiring books might be interesting for the students.
Although this public and rural high school is welcoming and well-maintained, the working conditions can be rudimentary: no heating, walls made only of planks even when it is 4 degrees in winter, and few high-tech teaching tools like in Western countries. The school is quite old and was inaugurated in 1958, during the initial years of India’s independence. The structure is still solid, and the children are used to studying in this building. When they are not in school, or during the farming seasons, the students also help their parents a lot in the Naga farms and rice fields.

We are therefore delighted, thanks to your donations, to have been able to contribute a little to the educational activities of this school and hope that the students will appreciate the books we have chosen for them!
This is our 8th donation during our travels, thanks to our generous donors! These allow us to talk about our excursions and the organizations we meet.
A 9th action will be organized soon, but we will then have no more budget!
Do not hesitate to contribute again to our fund and to communicate about our actions to your relatives, by posting flyers or placing a donation box in your favorite public place (with a flyer).
Thank you all for your participation!
